So, since this is my first blog post on here, I'd like to tell you a bit about myself.
My name is Savannah Hughes, and Im from southern kentuckiana. I enjoy playing softball, drawing, and volunteering in my community. Every Monday, I volunteer at our Local soup kitchen and emergency shelter, Warm Blessings, as a coordinator of sorts. I want to major in Criminal justice and law, and have at least a bachelors in Human services and psychology. I'm a big techie and love me some interwebs laughs. I'm almost always reachable, even during my hectic life, so check my info for contact information if you ever need me.
Ok, well, enough about me. As my blog title reads, it's LESS about ME, and MORE about THEM.
To start of, please ignore my face in the picture attached. I had a rough day, ok. Look at my wrists though... Did you notice something? Something that might make you think what on earth is that and why is it there? They are words, words that read 'Enough is Enough'. Do you understand my point Im trying to get across by these few words? Maybe not, well let me explain. My friend, who's name I will not mention for the sake of her privacy, was a former 'cutter'. As was I. She decided to start something called Enough Is Enough day, where you write those words on your wrist to show support for those who are being and have been bullied or have/do self harm.
When it comes to bullying, even just telling Someone they look ugly or they're fat is enough. Words hurt, they hurt a lot and I should know. One of the leading causes of deaths in the US was suicide last year. One of the leading hospitalizing medical problems, depression. Not only have I been diagnosed with severe depression, but I have been on the edge of the razor. At the point of no return. The point where I wanted to end my life. No one should have to ever, EVER, feel that way. Bullying is a MAJOR problem in our society today, and along with that, society sucks. There's a lot we can do, even if you think you can't because you're to young or to old or to big or small or strong or weak. YOU CAN STAND UP, AND YOU CAN VOICE YOUR OPINION, AND YOU CAN STOP THIS. You can save someone's life.
Today is April 9, 2013. Today is Enough is Enough day.
Today is the day that you can start making a difference.
Today is the day you can start saving lives.
